About the piece

The melody first appeared as “Good Morning to All” by the sisters Mildred and Patty Hill in 1893. After a long copyright dispute it is now in the public domain. The leap up to the high G in the third line is the only tricky moment.

Composer: Mildred J. Hill and Patty Smith Hill (melody, 1893). Level: Beginner.

Practice tips

  • Learn one line at a time. Repeat it until it feels easy, then add the next.
  • Keep your hand still over the keys and let your fingers do the moving.
  • Once you know the notes, press Listen again and play along with the rhythm.
  • Hold Space for the sustain pedal to make the melody sing — release it between phrases so the notes don't blur.
